The September Spring Equinox in the Western Cape is Wednesday, 23 September 2015. The easiest definition of an Equinox is the day when daytime and nighttime are of approximately equal duration.

Spring is the time for rebirth and renewal – Nature is budding and buzzing all around us, waking up from winter dormancy for new beginnings! And what better time for you to Spring into action.

Wellness Tips for Spring

  1. Renew Your Resolutions

Chances are, what you promised yourself in January has either been neglected or forgotten about. Remind yourself WHY you made those resolutions in the first place, assess what stopped you from achieving them at the start of the year and give yourself a second chance this Spring.

  1. Invigorate Your Exercise Routine

Exercise and resolutions always seem to go hand in hand. So make the most of the warmer weather, the longer days and get outside and celebrate the newness and potential of the season as you emerge from your own hibernation.

  1. Lighten Up Your Food

“Spring is a time for expanding energy, not storing.”

With a new season, comes new eating habits. Ditch the comfort food and replace them with crunchy, fresh seasonal fruit and veggies to give you energy for the warmer weather.

  1. Spring Clean Your Home

Just as you are cleansing your body and your mind, don’t forget your cupboard and those in need. Clean out your cupboards, garages and clutter and donate all unused items to your local charity shop. Your home will look better, you will have done a good deed and you will feel calmer and more organised.

  1. Stay Hydrated

Start carrying a water bottle with you.  It’s a lot easier to stay hydrated when you have the water right next to you. Don’t get caught in the warmer summer months with dehydrated skin.

  1. Challenge Yourself

Sign up for a race (5K, 10K, or a half marathon, or a triathlon).  Find a new knitting circle. Learn how to play Chess – do something new for your brain this spring.
